When Steel Meets Sweat - Eiffel's Megastructures: • When Steel Meets Sweat...
Over 130 years ago, in 1889, Paris unveiled a monument that would redefine its skyline and become a global icon-the Eiffel Tower. Built as the centerpiece of the World’s Fair, this engineering marvel faced fierce criticism, with many calling it an eyesore unfit for the City of Light. Undeterred, engineer Gustave Eiffel spearheaded an ambitious project, overcoming technical and public challenges to construct what was then the tallest structure on Earth. Discover the riveting story behind this groundbreaking feat of innovation and perseverance in this high-quality docu-drama, bringing history and engineering to life.

Best technical Engineering process Eiffel tower very nice video
Once upon a time, I met an American Girl on vacation in Europe. She and I went to Paris, where I showed her around and went to the top of the Eiffel Tower. She told me: "If someone had said that I would be here, on top of the Eiffel Tower, a year ago, I would not have believed them". Later that week, her mouth dropped when we visited The Louvre for two days.
It's cheaper to go up the Eiffel Tower today than it was back when it was built. The documentary suggests the equivalent of €55 when new. It's only about €36 today.
Brilliant show!
Excellent documentary!
A MAJOR error at the end.
The CN tower Toronto, Canada was not included.
The CN Tower held the record for the world's tallest free-standing structure for 32 years, from 1975 until 2007, when it was surpassed by the Burj Khalifa, and was the world's tallest tower until 2009 when it was surpassed by the Canton Tower. It is currently the tenth-tallest free-standing structure in the world and remains the tallest free-standing structure on land in the Western Hemisphere. In 1995, the CN Tower was declared one of the modern Seven Wonders of the World by the American Society of Civil Engineers. It also belongs to the World Federation of Great Towers.
I really enjoyed the documentary right until the last 2 minutes. Why show us the Chrysler Building and not even mention it? Also, the statement that the twin towers have "disappeared" isn't untrue, but who would it offend to say they were destroyed by terrorists?
Too many adverts! 😢
The iron lady may no longer be the highest
But still the most beautiful among the highest buildings in the world
Why do you pronounce the tower correctly but not the creator who the tower was named after??🤔🤔🤔🤔
SAME NAME, SAME SPELLING!!!!
Some AI antics 🤷
One tower, one dream, one Eiffel. Thank you Mr Eiffel.
It's a shame he is missing the original arcade / arches on the first floor !!
❤❤❤
All the original Victorian decoration was removed. That’s tragic.
.
The World Trade Center Towers didn't just disappear.
.
Just like Eiffel did not design or invent the Eiffel Tower. He appropriated it and promoted it to be built. The End.
He made it possible for it to be built and took the gamble to actually built it
His company, his vision, his contacts, his political and financial skills, his money.....Oh and he insisted the engineers persisted in refining the design until it was a beautiful structure rather than just a very high tower that would stand on its own.
What the hell has happened to French engineering
What do you mean, they’re still very much around and active
The milleau viaduct. 1.4km. long and 350 mts. High
@@AndrewThorne-b7p to be fair, designed by a Brit and built by a Spanish contractor but all still with extensive French input of course.
Get rid of the narrator.
